What is Ultraviolet (UV) Light?
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a form of light that is invisible to the human eye. It occupies the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between X-rays and visible light. The sun emits ultraviolet light; however, much of it is absorbed by the earth’s ozone layer.
A unique characteristic of UV light is that a specific range of its wavelengths, those between 200 and 300 nanometers (billionths of a meter), are categorized as germicidal – meaning they are capable of inactivating microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa. This capability has allowed widespread adoption of UV light as an environmentally friendly, chemical-free, and highly effective way to disinfect and safeguard water against harmful microorganisms.
Comparison between Quartz lamp and boric lamp:
Quartz Lamp:
Made by natural quartz with better penetration to UV ray and provide better germicidal result with longer effective usage life but cost much more than boric lamp. Melting point above 1800°C and hardness higher. Be able to be used in water without chemical substances and side effect.
Boric Lamp:
Made by boric. Penetration rate and effective usage life are about 1/2 compare to quartz though cost is much more less than quartz. Melting point below 1400°C and hardness lower. Boric contains chemical substances and could release toxic substances in water which should not be suggested to be used in drinking water e. production line, carbonated beverage production line etc. The design is scientific and reasonable. Its appearance is beautiful. Its operation and maintenance is convenient.
