Brief Introduction


Sodium hypochlorite disinfection presents clear advantages over chlorine gas, notably in safety and convenience. Its liquid form at low concentrations mitigates the risks associated with toxic gas leakage and transportation challenges inherent in chlorine gas usage. Moreover, the simplicity of on-site generation using salt, water, and electricity underscores its appeal as a viable alternative for water treatment facilities seeking efficient and safer disinfection solutions.




Process Flow


The traditional hypochlorite generator operates through the following steps: Initially, tap water undergoes softening to eliminate calcium and magnesium ions. A portion of this softened water is allocated for diluting the sodium hypochlorite generator’s inlet water. Subsequently, the remaining water is directed to a salt dissolving tank where refined salt is dissolved to form 25% saturated brine. This brine is accurately mixed with the diluted water using a metering pump before undergoing electrolysis at the power plant. During electrolysis, chlorine is generated at the anode, while sodium hydroxide and hydrogen are produced at the cathode. Finally, these components react to yield the sodium hypochlorite solution.
